CO2 Footprint

000 (tCO2e)
tCO2 = Tonnes of Carbon Dioxide Equivalent

How we do it
As an ethical and responsible travel company, we reduce our carbon footprint by designing trips that are low carbon impact and carefully calculating the impact with the help of an environmental consultancy. We then buy carbon credit equivalents to offset all emissions that cannot be reduced including those resulting from our day-to-day business operations. Our offsetting is done through an energy efficient stoves project in Kenya. On request, every traveller receives their own PDF offset certificate post-travel. Wild Guanabana is the first carbon-neutral travel company in the Middle East & North Africa. Note: We do not sell or issue flight tickets ourselves so consequently we don't offset those emissions.

What does offsetting mean anyway?
It's a way of reducing your ecological impact by 'neutralizing' the impact of your carbon footprint. Actions associated with travel amount to around a third of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. Carbon offsetting offers a solution to reduce the impact of your travel by purchasing carbon credits that are invested in activities that reduce CO2. While this doesn't erase all of the environmental impact, it does serve to help reinvest into the planet and contribute to activities which help its conversation. For more information on Carbon offsetting read more from our partners ERCC Carbon and our Sustainable Travel International.

Itinerary Details / Price Inclusions & Exclusions

  • Day 1 Welcome to Norway! (D)

Once you arrive at Trondheim Airport (TRD), our guides will pick you you up and drive 2.5 hours to Røros UNESCO World Heritage town where you’ll check in and take a breather. Our team will brief you on the upcoming few days of your journey, after which you get to indulge in a little taste of Norway by having dinner at the hotel.

  • Day 2 Clothing, kit and acclimatization day (B/L/D)

Are you ready for this? We’re having breakfast, packing our kits, and getting a briefing for the day before starting our cross-country skiing tour. Between sledding, kicking, and other winter activities, we’ll also stop for lunch along the trail. Back at the lodge we’ll have dinner and prepare to take on tomorrow’s expedition.

  • Day 3 Arctic Expedition Training and Chasing the Northern Lights (B/L/D)

Good morning, sunshine! We’re up bright and early to have breakfast at the lodge before taking a short drive into the wilderness and starting our expedition with a short skiing trip to the campsite. Setting up that campsite is a mammoth feat all its own, so we’ll have a much-deserved dinner by the campfire once we’re done. Now that night has fallen, we’re off to chase some Northern Lights and stare up at the stars on a nighttime ski tour before getting some rest back in our tents.

  • Day 4 Arctic Expedition Training and Chasing the Northern Lights (B/L/D)

Having breakfast in the wilderness is an incredible way to kickstart today’s adventures. We’re going to continue our skiing expedition and try to track some wild animals along the way. Then, lunchtime! Lunch will be served outdoors by the fire, then we continue to ski back to the campsite for dinner. One night of chasing the Northern Lights isn’t enough, so tonight we’re doing another night ski tour to catch the Northern Lights and wrap up with some stargazing by our tents

  • Day 5 Back to Civilization (B/L/D)

After one last breakfast at our campsite, we’ll pack it up and ski back to civilization. Lunch will be served on the trail, and shower, saunas, hot tubs, and a pool will be waiting for us when we arrive at the hotel. Today, we rest; after dinner, we’ll be relaxing around the fireplace for the night.

  • Day 6 Dogsledding or Reindeer Sledding (B/L/D)

Today we get to choose between dogsledding, which is more for the adrenaline junkies and those who want some thrill in their ride, or reindeer sledding for a more relaxing ride where you can take in the surreal landscapes. After sledding we’ll be back at the hotel to have dinner then spend the evening around the fireplace telling stories and looking back on our past few days of adventure.

  • Day 7 Homebound (B)

Have your breakfast and say your ‘so long’s, today we drive 2.5 hours to Trondheim Airport (TRD) and head home after a week of life-changing adventure.
