In the morning we set off towards Lake Bohinj where we begin our trekking through the Triglav National Park. We will pass by the endearing alpine pastures up to a mountain hut below Mount Triglav, the highest Slovenian mountain. For those hikers who would like to hike some more, there will be the option to climb a 2000-meter peak with incredible views of the Julian Alps (extra 1 hour). Accommodation in a mountain hut Hiking: 10 km / elevation +900 m, -250 m/ approx. 6 hours
This day is the hardest. The path will take us through stunning Alpine scenery with spectacular views. Again there will be the option to ascend a fantastic peak (extra 1 hour & 250 meters altitude gain). We will descend down the Valley of the 7 lakes, learn the geological history of this incredible landscape and perhaps even find some fossils in the rocks. We will spend the night in a comfortable hut next to one of the lakes. Dinner and accommodation in a mountain hut Hiking: 14 km / elevation +700 m, -750 m / approx. 7 hours
Slowly we will leave the highest peaks behind and enter the land of the Alpine pastures. We will try some home-made local products and have a delicious traditional lunch. We will explore the stunning Lake Bohinj and treat ourselves to an unforgettable swim in its crystal clear waters. Accommodation in a hotel in Bohinj. Hiking: 10 km / elevation +200 m, -800 m / approx. 4 hours
This day’s first stop is the magical Lake Bled. We will have the time to visit the island, walk up to a stunning viewpoint or just relax on the lakeside and bathe. On our way northwest we will walk under the fascinating Pericnik Waterfall and drive up the winding road to the impressive mountain pass Vrsic in the centre of the Julian Alps. There we will do another hike to a summit with spectacular view on high limestone walls all around us. Accommodation in a hotel in Bovec. Hiking: 10 km / elevation +650 m, -650 m / approx. 4-5 hours (split into 3 different hikes)
Today we will climb the spectacular Mt. Mangart on the border between Slovenia and Italy. It offers jaw-dropping views on 3 countries and a truly amazing hike. After a great lunch we will explore some hidden corners and waterfalls in the Soca valley. Accommodation in a hotel in Bovec. Hiking: 8 km / elevation +650 m, -650 m / approx. 5 hours
We will move southward to visit the historic town of Kobarid and learn about tragic WWI events in the region. After a beautiful walk by the Soca river and a nice local lunch we continue to the wine region of Goriska Brda to enjoy the Mediterranean landscape, taste some delicious local products and of course delightful wine. There will be a great farewell dinner in the evening. Accommodation in a hotel in Goriska Brda.
Breakfast & end of a great trip.
We will continue to Karst region and the Coast to complete the tour with a swim in the Adriatic sea. We will go underground and walk through the stunning canyon of Skocjan Caves, a Unesco heritage. We will visit the vineyards of Karst and taste the excellent local food and wine. In the afternoon, we will continue to the coast to explore the most picturesque coastal town of Piran, get lost among its narrow streets and squares and enjoy the evening on the Adriatic coast. The guide will finish the tour in the evening in Piran and will then return by van to Ljubljana. You can stay an extra night either in Piran or Ljubljana, depending on your onward travel plans. Weather

The best season for Slovenia is during summer months, specifically from June to August, where temperatures are relatively high and you can enjoy a dip in the many lakes there. However, many of Slovenia’s attractions, including the capital, are just as enjoyable outside the peak summer months, and in particular during spring and autumn, when the countryside colours are at their most resplendent and the crowds are a little thinner.

Accommodation

We will spend 5 nights in 3-star hotels and 2 nights in mountain huts in rooms for 4, 6 or 12 people. The huts offer food and drinks and provide beds with blankets and “single use” paper bed sheets. Therefore, it is recommended to bring your own cotton sleeping bag liner. Although it is not possible to have single rooms in the huts, the communal life will be enjoyed much enjoyed!

Food

During the trip we will try some delicious Slovenian food. You will taste some typical Alpine dishes and the best meals of the wine region. On the days when we sleep in the mountain huts, the food offer is more simple and limited but still tasty and delicious.

Hiking

The hike itself is technically non-demanding but it requires a reasonable fitness level. Expect to be hiking around 5-6 hours daily with an average altitude gain of 700m everyday. The tour is also appropriate for children if they are fit enough.

Scenery

Being on the coast of the Mediterranean and also having a great part of the Julian Alps, Slovenia has a very diverse scenery. We’ll be hiking in alpine meadows, forests neighboring calm rivers, underground caves, islands among lakes and ever flowering pastures.

Transportation

We have all our transportation in a private van that our guide drives. The van is always available to us throughout the itinerary (a van for 8 people). In case of bad weather, when we cannot make the 3-day hut-to-hut hike, we will move by van to other places and will make other hikes less conditioned by the weather.
