Geography

Spain offers the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea, the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean and a number of uninhabited islands on the Mediterranean known as plazas de soberanía. Between the Atlantic ocean, Mediterranean sea, islands, mountain ranges and beautiful cliffs , there isn’t much Spain can’t offer.

History

A land populated largely by the Iberians, Basques and Celts, on its coastal areas were settled the Phoenicians who founded Western Europe's most ancient cities Cadiz and Malaga. During the early Middle Ages it came under Germanic rule but later, much of it was conquered by Moorish invaders from North Africa. The last Moorish kingdom fell in the same year Columbus reached the Americas. Spain became the strongest kingdom in Europe, the leading world power for a century and a half, and the largest overseas empire for three centuries.

Culture

The Land of Fiesta, Flamenco, Roman ruins, Cathedrals, jewels of Islamic architecture, and creative spirits as Salvador Dalí, Pablo Picasso and Antoni Gaudí. Spanish art, architecture, cuisine, and music has been shaped by successive waves of foreign invaders, and also the country's Mediterranean climate and geography.
